Being a bigger athlete (230-lbs), I am proud that I can deadlift 500-lbs, run a sub 6 minute mile, walk on my hands, do muscle ups, and dunk a basketball. I love being a well rounded athlete.

About John

Columbia has been my home since 1993. I grew up as a chubby kid and was constantly bullied and picked on by older kids in school. From a young age, I grew a passion for playing sports and challenging my body so I could be strong and defend myself.
I was a three-sport athlete at Rock Bridge High School and I graduated in 2006. My dedication and hard work earned me a Division-1 football scholarship. After I played Football at the University of Missouri, I knew I wanted to pursue a career helping others achieve their goals. I started personal training in 2011 at Wilson’s Fitness Centers where I developed a heart of compassion and a burning desire to do whatever it takes to help my clients get results and reach their goals.

Turning Point

In 2014 I found CrossFit. I soon realized that no other program helped my clients get better results or reach their goals faster. I was also attracted to CrossFit because of the strong community aspect. The level of support and accountability CrossFit provides is unparalleled. The workouts are so fun and I once again got to experience the team comrade I missed from playing football.
January of 2017 I opened MKT FIT and became an official CrossFit Affiliate, CrossFit MKT. The past couple years have been so fun seeing our community grow and the members do things they never thought possible!

Motivation & Passion

I have learned that there is no easy path to success in life. If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you. To consistently reach your goals, you have to be ok with failing, Success requires determination and hard work. If you want to make your biggest dreams come true, you have to be willing to take some bumps and bruises. All successful people fail forward, learn from their failures, and improve 1% every day.

A couple of my favorite quotes right now:

“Courage is not having the strength to go on; it is going on when you don’t have the strength.” – Theodore Roosevelt

“Everything in your life flows from your relationship to yourself. Learn to treat yourself like someone worthy of love, respect, and compassion, and your life will flow more effortlessly, abundantly, and joyfully than you can imagine.” – Jason Connell
