Our Story

MKT was born in January of 2017. Since then, our aim at MKT was and always will be, to make working out the best hour of your day and time well spent on your journey to becoming the best version of yourself. No phones, no emails, just hard work, and camaraderie. We turn up the music, give fist bumps, and blow off steam. 

MKT members take action, never quit, and lift each other up. We value modesty, kindness, and truth; M-K-T. We never blame, shame, or judge, and we always stay humble, hungry, and strong. 

The CrossFit MKT community has people from all walks of life, professionals, servicemen and women, entrepreneurs, doctors, nurses, teachers, husbands, moms, and more! 

Although we come from different backgrounds and experience levels, we all have an important story and we all have overcome many obstacles in life to get where we are today.

We don’t train for recognition or awards, we train to become healthier, happier, and stronger servants for those we love.

Abbey Wandel

Abbey, aka, “Mighty Mouse” can usually be found with a smile on her face, greeting athletes as they walk into the gym and making sure everyone feels welcomed and taken care of.

Abbey supports everyone in pursuing their own personal goals, and in being the best version of themselves.

In addition, Abbey has struggled with Lupus from an early age. However, with a combination of proper nutrition and CrossFit, she has been able reach remission for her autoimmune condition. Her purpose is to share the CrossFit methodology with everyone to help them realize how CrossFit can transform their health, so they can live longer, fuller lives.

Adam Cunningham

Adam is a retired Naval Officer with over 25 years of service. He started his fitness coaching serving as the Command Fitness Officer in multiple commands, ensuring the fitness of our nation's Sailors for over 14 years. Adam followed traditional strength and conditioning program for many years but started CrossFit back in 2013 when he was bored with his workout routine. Adam witnessed results in just a few months that used to take him years to achieve and will never went back to traditional training. Adam truly enjoys helping others achieve things they never thought were possible while watching them turn into the best version of themselves.

Justin Wandel

Mallory started participating in Crossfit in 2019. She was bored at the gym and wanted to mix up her routine. Being a stay at home mom she was looking to connect and make meaningful relationships. She quickly fell in love with the community at MKT and soon after earned her CF-L.

Mallory is also our resident yoga instructor. She has been practicing yoga and incorporating its philosophies in her life since 2009. She completed her 500 hour yoga teacher training in 2015 at the Yoga School of Therapeutics in Overland Park, KS. Since then she has worked with many different yoga students including athletes at the University of Missouri. She loves coaching yoga and crossfit because, although seemingly opposite, anyone can participate and enjoy making steps towards a healthier, happier lifestyle.

Justin Doisy

Jusin founded CrossFit in 2013 when his wife dragged him to an affiliate. He immediately fell in love with the methodology. The mental and physical growth experienced from CrossFit is second to none. Pushing limits, getting stronger and the fantastic community here at MKT are what bring him back every day. Coaching athletes allows him to explore his passion of helping others, with the added benefit of experiencing their growth first hand. His relatable nature allows athletes of all kinds to feel comfortable in his presence, no matter if it's their first day or they have been doing CrossFit for years.
Jusin is a father to 2 boys and 2 girls with an amazing wife. Family time, spending time outdoors, and sporting events are interests outside the gym walls. Go Pack Go!!

Ando Cook

Ando was born and raised in Madagascar. He moved to Columbia in 2010 to pursue studies at the university and just never left.
Just like anyone that moves to the U.S., all the tasty foods and overindulgence caused him to gain weight.
Not wanting to succumb to diseases associated with weight gain, he decided to start a workout routine. And like most people that do so, he started with a regular gym membership and has gone on and off, with no structure and no accountability. He was never able to achieve any of his set goals and quickly realized he had no idea what he was doing.
This is when he started at Crossfit MKT. Within 3 months of going regularly and receiving the right guidance, his results were vastly superior to what he had managed to achieve that far on his own. And then the passion for the sport of Crossfit settled in, not just for the WODs but also for the community aspect of the sport. Crossfit quite literally changed his life.
Now, 3 years later, he decided that it is his turn to give back to the sport and to this amazing community, his turn to help others achieve their goals and reach a state of health, strength, and happiness.

Working out at the gym isn’t easy. But getting there shouldn’t be hard. MKT Fitness is easily accessible from all of Columbia.
